Captûre Wines 2008 Tradition Sauvignon Blanc
June 2009
Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar (Review by Stephen Tanzer): “Very pale silvery- yellow. Pungent aromas of lemon, pink grapefruit, quinine, anise and white flowers. Juicy, dense and penetrating, with lovely intensity and a light touch to the grapefruit, floral and mineral flavors. Very clean and suave sauvignon; brisk but not at all hard. Perhaps best on the tactile, gripping back end, which shows sneaky, reverberating length. This sauvignon, made entirely in stainless steel, is a new venture by Denis and May-Britt Malbec. Score: 92“
The Tasting Panel (Review by Editor-in-Chief Anthony Dias Blue): “Lovely silky texture and ripe fruit with fresh, generous Bordeaux-like flavors of citrus and honeysuckle and exquisite definition of style; elegant, floral and aromatic. Score: 92″
Wine Spectator Insider (Review by MaryAnn Worobiec): “Intense, this straddles a pungent, racy, jalapeño-laced citrus side with a more viscous, smoky, lanolin- and hay-scented. Aromatic, juicy and full of personality, with a long, intense finish. Drink now. Score: 91“

Vinfolio (Review by Elizabeth Grubel): “Captûre is a partnership between the world-class Bordeaux winemaking team of May-Britt and Denis Malbec, formally of Château Latour; the management team of Tara and Benjamin Sharp; and vineyards manager Glenn Alexander. This dynamic team is creating Bordeaux-style reds from the Tin Cross Vineyards, high upon Pine Mountain, and Sauvignon Blanc from Kick Ranch and Windrem Ranch Vineyards.
Captûre’s first release, the 2008 Tradition Sauvignon Blanc, is 100% tank fermented and aged sur-lees. It is an extraordinary wine, full of mineral character, crisp acidity, white flowers, and a very subtle hint of creaminess. The two reds will not be released until next year as they will spend a total of 20 months in oak followed by at least a year in bottle before release. We can hardly wait!
2008 Tradition Sauvignon Blanc
This Sauvignon Blanc has a beautiful golden hue with just a tinge of light green. A cornucopia of bright fruit and aromas such as mineral, citrus, gooseberry, white flowers, white peach, and pears almost overwhelm the senses. On the palate, this is 100% traditional Bordelais Sauvignon Blanc. Stunning acidity without being searing, perfectly balanced, a lovely mouth-feel, and just a hint of creaminess. There are multiple layers of pink grapefruit, pears, honeysuckle, and minerality followed by lingering citrus and honeysuckle. Perfect to enjoy during these summer months as well as over the next 7-8 years. Score: 93“
